Running a session without signal
Before you lose signal
A session can run with no connection at all, but the device needs the club's roster and venues on it first.
- Offline nights run in the iPhone app. Whenever it is open with a connection, it saves the roster and venues of every club you run nights for — there is nothing to remember.
- Open the app with no signal and it starts ready to play. If the signal drops while you are in the app, tap Play offline. Or choose Play offline on this phone when you start a night in a hall you know is bad.
The rule
The offline roster is the club's players as they were when the phone last saved the club. Someone added to the club after that cannot be added to an offline night.
The iPhone app opens with no signal at all, and a night still in progress reopens where it left off.
During the session
The session runs entirely on the device that started it, with the same rotation rules and scoring as an online night. Late arrivals can be added from the prepared roster, and players can be sat out or marked done as usual.
The rule
An offline session lives on one device. It is not shared with other phones while it runs, and it is never merged with changes made anywhere else.
Other members cannot follow the night live on their own phones until it has synced.
Syncing results
- End the session on the device.
- Once there is a connection, sync it.
- The session appears in the club with its original date and times, its roster, and every completed game, and ratings, wins and losses are applied.
The rule
Only an ended session with at least one completed game syncs. A session ended with no completed games is discarded, and a game still in progress when the session ended is not uploaded.
The session keeps the same identity on the device and on the server, so syncing twice is safe: a repeat sync returns the session that already exists and re-applies its statistics instead of creating a duplicate.
If the club has played other sessions since the offline night, ratings are recalculated for the whole club in date order, so the offline night counts where it actually happened rather than being added on at the end.
When a sync is refused
- Another session is live for the club. End that session, then sync.
- The session's venue has been removed or replaced since. Choose one of the club's current venues and sync again.
- Someone on that night's roster does not belong to this club. The sync is refused.
- The club has been locked by support. The night cannot sync while the lock is on.
Removing a player from the club after the night does not block it. The games already happened, so the night still syncs with them in it.
What can be lost
The rule
Until it syncs, the night exists only on that device.
Signing out keeps nights that have not synced yet: they stay on the phone, hidden from anyone else, and appear again when the same account signs back in. Deleting the account deletes them.
Deleting the app removes them too.
